#1 Doing volunteer work in Jin Ning Elderly Home for 20 hours
I and some of my old friends go to the Jin Shan Elderly Home twice a month. We have learned many things from the Elderly Home.
There’re about thirty elders in it. They are common that their children don't close to them, so their children sent them to the Elderly Home. Elders often feel lonely and they kind persons to take care of them. As a result, people go there to chat with them, give them warmth in order to encourage them to be optimistic(乐观的) ,to get older and have a good mood every day. The attendants are so hard-working and exertive(费力的) that give elders good environment or atmosphere to live and disport(娱乐) .They clean up for them on time, they cook food for them on time, they do many different therapies for them, they call them go outside to do exercises on time , they talk with them when they feel lonely and they help them call their families often. The attendants are very kind to elders even they treat them as their parents; they put all th
eir efforts in it. All the elders have two floors as their homes. They also have a small hectare garden, they don’t have many good establishments because most of them are poor and they only need to pay a little money when they live there. There often do exercises in the garden, the rest of the time they often in their houses.
When I do this volunteer work, I can gain many valuable things. My friends and I go there together to do volunteer work, during the time, I can also talk with my friends from other school. It’s so fun. At the Elderly Home, we do things together, such as an
elder needed to stand up, but only one people couldn’t help him, she called us so we arrived there at once and helped him stand up. We did almost all the things together to make or do better for elders. I learned a lot about people need to cooperate well and be tacit(默契的), if we don’t have same ideas, we also need to talk about it. Not be unhappy with somebody. More is better and powerful. When after solving problems or when we leave, the elders always be grateful to us , they said “ thank you for all of your perfect jobs in the Elderly Home, we are so pleasant for your efforts, your guys sp
end your valuable studying time doing volunteer work for our elders, thank you very much. We will remember your kindness and we have confidence we can be happier. We also wish you can have higher marks in all of your study and be happy every day’’. We knew if we want ourselves to be successful or other people can praise us, we must put many efforts in it and focus on insist on doing it without giving up. We also need to be kind to people, to take care of people that need our help, and then we can be affirmed, we can be proud of ourselves and forgot all the sorrow things during the time. We also remember happy things. During we talked with elders, we could learn many things from them. They would talk about their differently experience, such as how to treat with different people, how to be easy-going with many people, if we have trouble with family members or friends how we can solve the problem successful , how can we balance our time and how we can use less time for the better work, etc. They had more experience than us, so they know what is right and what is wrong, if we had questions, we could ask them, and then they would give us good answers. Through the talk, we could learn a
ny other extra information and the information is so important to our lives, it can also make our lives more successfully and conveniently.
Each of us usually has an elder partner common time. When we arrived, we often found our own partners to talk carelessly first, and then maybe we would talk detailed things with others together. It could create a hilarious atmosphere. When elders talked about their experience, we often are together and asked or shared questions or answers together; maybe we could achieve more things. At the Elderly Home, we do things together, such as an elder needed to stand up, but only one people could not help him, she called us so we arrived there at once and helped him stand up. We did almost all the things together to make or do better for elders. We did almost all the things together to make or do better for elders. I learned a lot about people need to cooperate well and be tacit(默契的). More is better and powerful.
I think that we need to have more experience on many things. We must spend time and put many efforts in it. We practice by ourselves and then summarize the problems we have met, the ways that how we solve them, what things or qualities make us successful. So, we have experience and we know how to solve the problem efficiently, and then we won’t have the same problem and we can have processes or can improve skills on our employability skills. If we want to have employability skills, we must command and exert skills and have much experience to use. If we want to have employability skills, we must go outside and do much volunteer work. We must also need to meet many people and use a good way to treat them, and we can also learn information or ask them difficulties from them. When we meet problems, we must solve them with our wisdom instead of making the same fault we have faced, if we need help, we need to ask people unambitiously(无奢望的), we also need to use the time wisely. Those all are benefits to do volunteer work or employability skills.
The experience I do in volunteer work were indelible(永久的)can learn many very important things in our lives and understand them. In conclusion, I think it was very valuable, and it was necessary to spend hours doing valuable volunteer work
# 2 Helping Mr. Harris to make the badminton poster
On the 20th of December, 2009, Mr. Harris asked me to make a badminton poster for him. The main topic is badminton tournament.
I do the poster for 2 hours. First, I choose an A4 paper, and design the composition carefully. Then think about the name of the poster, I design the poster called“ GCA Christmas Badminton Tournament.” Then I design what the and size the name are, and what colors are the words, and what are the words’ styles. In addition, I also need to design what the composition is. I also need to find the banners of Canada, Finland, China, Vietnam, t
he USA and German. I do not know how to draw some of the banners, so I look them up on the Internet. Then I begin to draw.
I draw some decorations on the ledge of the paper to make them more beautiful, the decorations are some red bowknots, and red can catch the people’s attention. Nest, I use black felts to write artistic words GCA, I don’t fill with all color, adverse, I give some white space. Following, I write Christmas under the GCA with yellow and red felts to make it colorful and brightly. Afterwards, I use artistic words that the words give people a far to close feeling, and give you a feeling of three-D. I use blue felt to make the poster look peaceful and purity. Next, I want the poster to be more three-dimensional, I use the three-dimensional double sided tape. At last, I draw the banners with suitable felts.
After I finished, I felt so exciting that I helped our teacher do a task and I had finished a wonderful product. Although this is a small task to be volunteer work, it is meaningful because not every body has this chance to draw, Mr. Harris asks Ms. Hadley that who is good at drawing and who is willing to help other people, I love drawing very much and I show great interests in drawing. In addition, I do thing quickly, I can finish a drawing within a short time because when I draw, I am focal at any time. If we want to get achievement on something, we must be interested in it, and put efforts, be willing to spend time on it. We also need to think about how to make our product creative and good-looking. We must have good attitudes to face any situations.
When Mr. Harris asks me to make a poster, I feel so excited. I think that show my talents to other people, I also found that we need to catch every choice to improve our abilities and face every anneal in our lives. If we promise to finish the task, we must be extremely responsible for our tasks and to make sure we finish them on time. We must show strong patience to our tasks and this is not also for completing task but also this is for helping other people in needed.
Doing volunteer work can improve our abilities of solving problems, after that we can be patient, we can become more caring, we can understand the importance of love and care, we also know to reciprocate other good persons. As a result, we can be riper and achieve success later.
